Marilu is awesome, I have been going to her for years. She's so experienced she just gets hair. She cuts your hair really fast but don't worry - she knows what she's doing.
She will listen to what you want and can also help you make it work for your hair. I have really fine straight hair and she knows how to work with it. My friend went from shoulder length to short, like a long pixie, with Marilu and loved how it turned out.
And the prices are really reasonable. I have shoulder length hair and she charges me $40 for a cut and blowout.

I refuse to have anyone else cut or color my hair. Not only does Marilu do an amazing/professional job, but the rest of the staff is friendly and inviting also. The fact that they also have an in-house manicurist is also a huge plus. One stop shop. Have been coming here for over 6 years and have always been super delighted with the results with many compliments!!

I moved here from Philadelphia and was stressing that I wouldn't find a good salon with a trustworthy, accredited hair dresser.. Well, I found a true treasure at Innovations on Bird road!! Marilu is AMAZING! She truly cares about the health and look of my hair, taking into account the maintenance, skin tone, depth, length and color. The shampoo, conditioner and other products that are used smell SO good. Pricing is reasonable and fair too!! I'm so blessed I found this place. Even the other girls that work here are so sweet and hospitable. I feel like I'm visiting family when I walk in this place. I also felt like a model when they took before and after pics Truly better than any hair salon I've been to across the East coast!

I cannot say enough good things about this salon. I came in in Desperate need of fixing the hack job I had just received at a previous salon. My hair was burnt and fried and absolutely destroyed. Those who know me know that I'm very picky about hair salons, one because I hate the time and effort it takes and two because they are all overpriced. I've been following Innovations for a year and yesterday on my birthday I took the plunge. I made an appointment with Ana Gloria to get color, cut and dry. The verdict: I have found my new hair stylist and salon!!! Ana took the time to really understand what I was looking for in color and explain how it would look til we found the right one. I loved it yesterday when she finished and love it even more today! She was on time with my appointment (another pet peeve) and very affordable! And she was super personable and kind. My husband and sister were in shock at how absolutely delighted I walked out! No second thoughts. I'm ready for my next appointment and that says a lot! Take the plunge you won't regret it!

I have been going to Ana Gloria since I was 14 and in secondary school (I am currently 32). Nobody else has contacted my hair. This lady works supernatural occurrences. She changes your hair into anything you desire it to be. Bring a magazine cut, a Pinterest photograph, anything to show cut shading style and you have it. She will let you know whether the lighting is causing it to appear to be another shading or if there is something you probably won't be seeing on the cut. She he been trimming and styling hair for such a long time and has so a lot of experience doing it, that I have completely given up my hair to her. I confide in her 100% and have never - in 18 years - left a hair arrangement feeling frustrated. This lady has taken me from a Blonde (normal hair shading) to dark black hair with red square features, back to blonde. Reddish to Blonde to darker to blonde to ombré. Short hair, long hair, put in my expansions and styled them to flawlessness to the point that even individuals I see consistently had no clue they were in my hair. Everything this lady contacts transforms into flawlessness. Everybody I have ever prescribed to her has returned to me in stun. Everything I can say to them is "I let you know so".

Albeit somewhat a long way from my house, it's absolutely justified, despite all the trouble! Marilu nailed the shading I needed for my hair and she trim it pleasantly. I am astounded to such an extent that the shading has kept going so long on my hair in light of the fact that regularly they will in general blur on me around 3 weeks in. It's been over a month that I went there and I can even now go somewhat more. The main little issue was that I had explicitly said that I would not like to blowdry my hair since I was truly heading off to the rec center just after yet clearly it was lost in interpretation lol. I would not like to stop her since I'm apprehensive that will seem to be discourteous. No biggie however. Next time I'll make a point to tell her privilege before she begins. Called on a Sunday, with ORANGE hair, desperate for anyone to help me with my disaster...I went in, everyone was so lovely, my hair was looking beautiful in no time all for $120 (base color, partial highlights, wash, blow dry) and I have long, thick curly hair. Best salon I've been to in Miami, hands down.

I posted a message on Yelp seeking a hairstylist that could do a good job without breaking the bank, and Marilu at Innovations was recommended to me by Renee (see post above). I was a bit weary of making the appointment, as I am always scared of getting a trim, since I have very long hair (elbow length), which makes cutters go crazy chopping! I want a trim while still preserving my Pantene-like hair (okay, maybe it's not THAT shiny and flawless but still, I do get my fair share of hair compliments ;) )
Naturally, I was nervous, even though she had been recommended to me and even though she had 30+ years of experience. Marilu took a look at the picture I brought her and was honest from the beginning. She said the layers in the picture were placed way too high and it would not suit my hair, as my hair is a bit on the fine side. She said she would work a compromise between the cut in the picture and a realistic cut for me now that she knew what I was looking for, which made sense as the picture was of a wig, where they have a lot more hair to work with than what is on an average woman's head.
She gave me the cut I was looking for, except she cut some side swept bangs like in the picture and from there, she started the long layers at chin level on down, instead of starting the layers from the ears as in the picture. I totally understood what she meant, as I want to be able to tie my hair back whenever I feel like doing so, and such short layers would not let me do so.
She used a razor to achieve the layers, and explained this would make them more bouncy. She worked terrifyingly quickly with that razor, which made me think she would have to start cutting a bit from this side, a bit from that side, until I ended up with a Beatles' type of bowl cut (I kid you not, I had this done once by a stylist and let's just say she got on my blacklist, even though my mother decided to keep going to her). Or worse, I might join Van Gogh in having only one ear (kidding, she's fast but accurate!).
Marilu even shared some tips on how to maintain my 'do, and told me that if I recommended someone, I would get a free blowdry, but not only that, she would let me sit in on the session and learn more blowdrying tips for free, based on how she styled my friend's hair. I thought that was pretty cool, along with the fact that she didn't mind sharing her styling tips.
Since I have long hair, I ended up paying a bit over $40, plus a tip. This includes the blowdry, by the way (most places will charge about $70 with the blowdry, so this was a bargain). I think it looks pretty hot, take a look at my profile pic (which was taken 2 days after her blowdry) and let me know what you think!

I have visited most of the salons in Coral Gables and South Miami, and I can certainly say this is one of the best. It is small and unpretentious, but dont let that fool you. Marilu has an innate talent for color, she listens and understands what you need, but wont perform anything that might be too damaging or that will compromise the integrity of your hair. I appreciate that a lot. I have strayed on occasions, but I always come back so they can fix whatever disaster another over hyped salon has done on my head. Ana and Liz are just as great. They never disappoint.

I've had two stylists in my life - who I could trust completely with my hair. and Marilu (owner of Innovations) is one of them. I've been coming here for a few years, with different style requests - each time, I just bring in a photo and say "this is what I want". And 30 minutes later - that's what I get. Marilu doesn't just cut your hair, she fits it to the frame of you face - she tells you if she thinks that a style isn't a good idea for you. There is hardly ever a wait - even though appointments are sometimes hard to come by - and the price is right - I think w/ tip it comes out to $37. And they do mani/pedi's too! I used to drive here all the way from the beach, and now that I live in CG - I'm very happy that they are so close!

I was looking for an affordable but still quality haircut in Miami and turned to Yelp to find this place. Overall I was really pleased. The salon is standard, and parking was a bit of a pain (I had to wait 5 minutes before someone else came out to leave). I went on a Friday and did have to wait ~10 minutes, but that's to be expected in Miami.
The best part of this place is Marilu's talent. I went in asking for a huge change, and she made it look amazing. She tweaked the picture I brought into something that was just right for me. She answered all of my questions about how to style my hair myself, and really took the time to make sure every piece of hair fell perfectly.
They don't have a website, but the cost is $35-$40 for a cut and blow-dry, which is a great deal. I'll definitely be back!
